Recognising Our Great Apprentices
Congratulations to Lewis Thorpe, who is the winner of the ‘David Dutch Apprenticeship Award’ for 2024.
The award, which is presented every year, is in honour of the late David Dutch who was the Technical Director and Co-founder of Ormandy Rycroft, and an inspiration to his colleagues.
The award is presented each year to the apprentice who has made the greatest progress both on the shop floor and at Bradford College where they study for their ‘Level 2 Fabrication & Welding’ qualifications. Lewis’ tireless contribution and work of the highest quality makes him a key part of the Ormandy team and a deserved winner of the award.
Having already worked through the Apprenticeship Scheme, James Walters, one of our most outstanding apprentices and previous winner of the David Dutch Award three years in succession, has now qualified as a fully qualified Welder-Fabricator. His commitment to producing high quality work is still as strong now, as it was on the day he started his apprenticeship.
Lewis and James were presented their Award and Certificate by Roger McDowell, Chairman of our parent company Avingtrans plc, who had travelled to Bradford to make personally the awards.
Ormandy’s policy has always been to ‘grow your own’ and with our first-class apprenticeship scheme and experienced mentors, we will continue to do so.
